Visiting the campus

Personal interviews are not required for admission to Binghamton University. If you wish to speak with an admissions counselor, you may phone the Admissions Office.

You are welcome to join group information sessions and student-guided tours of the campus held on most weekdays and selected Saturdays during the academic year. These sessions cover general information about admissions, academic and campus life, housing and the surrounding community. Please phone at least one week in advance to be sure a session will be scheduled for the day you choose to visit.

Special events
Each fall, the Admissions Office and all Binghamton University schools host an Open House for all interested potential applicants and their families. Each spring, two special Freshman Open Houses are offered for all admitted freshmen and their families. These events provide general campus information as well as focused sessions on Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, with the opportunity to meet faculty and staff representing Africana Studies.

The setting
The university is located on a modern residential campus just outside the city of Binghamton. About 190 miles northwest of New York City, the Binghamton metropolitan area, home to just under a quarter million residents, supports a philharmonic orchestra, first-rate regional opera company and a modern sports arena. It also supports one of New York’s largest high-technology centers. To find information about Binghamton and the University campus on the Web, visit the homepage.

Facilities
The University takes special pride in its research libraries, which contain more than 3 million items in various formats, including scholarly serial publications. All University libraries provide study carrels, pleasant reading areas and open-stack access to most volumes.

Binghamton University is strongly committed to affirmative action. We offer access to services and recruit students and employees without regard to race, color, gender, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or national origin.
